OFF THE FIELD
LIFE OFF THE FIELD
Although the pitching mound might be one of his favorite places in the world, not even Cole plays baseball 24/7. Cole’s family is his number one priority. On his days off, Cole enjoys spending time with his family.
MEET THE HAMELS
Cole met his wife Heidi when he got in her autograph line at a Clearwater, Florida baseball game. Heidi had competed in the sixth season of Survivor: The Amazon and was throwing out the first pitch. Her throw might not quite compare to Cole’s changeup, but she had him hooked. On New Year’s Eve 2006, Cole and Heidi married in her hometown of Springfield, Missouri. Cole and Heidi now have four children, Caleb, Braxton, Reeve, and Mackenzie (not pictured).
WE CAN’T IMAGINE LIFE WITHOUT HER. SHE IS LOVED SO MUCH MORE THAN I THINK SHE COULD POSSIBLY UNDERSTAND, AND SHE IS GOING TO BE PROTECTED MORE THAN SHE COULD EVER UNDERSTAND.

COLE OPENS UP ABOUT THE ADOPTION JOURNEY
It was Heidi who first admitted she dreamed to one day adopt internationally, and Cole was all for the idea. Cole and Heidi waited four, long years to adopt a child internationally. Finally, they received a phone call telling them they were going to be the proud parents of a little girl in Ethiopia. Cole and Heidi traveled to Ethiopia within a matter of days after receiving the phone call to see their new daughter for the first time. Reeve Kenean Hamels was officially adopted on Christmas Eve in 2012. Cole opened up about the adoption journey in an interview with NBC 5.
