Hamels settles down, improves after rough last outing

Jose Reyes and Jose Bautista each launched first-inning home runs, and Josh Donaldson went deep in the sixth as the Blue Jays beat the Phillies, 6-3, before a sell-out crowd of 9,568 at Bright House Field. Left-hander Cole Hamels , coming off an outing in which he surrendered five runs on six hits in two innings, settled down after the two early homers.

Report: Rangers still pursuing Phillies' Cole Hamels reported Friday that the Phillies and Rangers are still discussing a possible trade that would send Philadelphia left-hander Cole Hamels to Texas. The Rangers definitely need rotation help, as ace Yu Darvish underwent Tommy John surgery earlier this week and will miss the entire 2015 season.

Just when you thought the Phillies were about to run out of pitchers, along comes one of the pitchers they signed so that they wouldn't run out of pitchers. Yes, Cliff Lee is out and Jerome Williams has problems, but at least we have the "Not Even Traded Yet" Cole Hamels, "Master of the Backwards K" David Buchanan, and "Almost Healthy Enough to do Baseball Things" Aaron Harang, and Paul Clemens.
