Sources: Phils deal Hamels to Texas

The Phillies agreed to a trade late Wednesday that would send Cole Hamels, the franchise's best homegrown pitcher since Robin Roberts, to the Texas Rangers, baseball sources confirmed. Five prospects, including three of the Rangers' most touted, and 29-year-old lefthander Matt Harrison are coming to the Phillies in the deal, according to multiple reports.

Hamels Traded to Texas

Hamels, the Phillies long time lefty ace, MVP of both the 2008 NLCS and World Series, was traded to the Texas Rangers for a package of 6 players/prospects. It was revealed through numerous sources last night that the Phillies and Texas Rangers have agreed to a trade sending lefty ace Cole Hamels and lefty reliever Jake Diekman from Philly to Texas.
